Today, confirmation bias contributes to political polarization, science denial, and toxic online debates. It keeps people locked in echo chambers, defending ideas not because they're accurate, but because they're familiar and socially rewarding.The urge to be right isn’t just stubbornness, it’s something deep in us. It is something that once helped our ancestors stay alive. Back then, being wrong could mean real danger. But today, that same instinct can keep us stuck, defensive, and disconnected.In groups, people who were consistently seen as right gained status and influence. Those who were wrong too often lost credibility and were more likely to be ignored or excluded.
